One of the few botanical marine parks in the world, Dyer Island is an amazing site to dive to view Great White Sharks.Some 12km offshore of Cape Town, South Africa, Dyer Island is home to over 50,000 Cape Fur Seals which attract the sharks. The dive takes place from a launch and you descend in a cage as close as possible to these magnificent creatures. There are great opportunities for photos from the boat and once inside the cage. It's an unforgettable experience for qualified divers and novices alike.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Cape Town hotel. Hotel details will be mailed to you along with your pre-departure information.

MEALS

Meals are not included on day 1. On day 2, packed breakfast en route to the launch boat and lunch on board the boat. Breakfast at the hotel on day 3. Tour ends after breakfast.

TRANSPORT

A shuttle bus will take you to and from the launch site. The dive takes place from a launch boat. Our journey on the boat towards these islands takes approximately 20 minutes.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Our operator is in possession of a valid White Shark Cage Diving Operators Permit (issued by government), enabling us to work within the Dyer Island nature reserve area (copy of permit available upon request). Only long-standing operators who are in compliance with certain safety regulations and code of conduct, are entitled to this permit. All our facilities are closely inspected by authorities on an annual basis, ensuring maximum safety for all our guests.

VISAS

Citizens of the US do not need a visa for short stay entry to South Africa. All countries require a valid passport (with minimum 6 months validity). The visa requirements for your trip vary depending on where you are from; citizens of the U.S. can visit www.travel.state.gov/visa. It is important that you check for yourself. TOUR LEADERSHIP

Each crew member is highly qualified in his/her specific field and, together, have more than 15 years experience working with Great White Sharks. Crew qualifications consist of: A1(1) commercially licensed skippers; level 3 Medics; Satour Registered specialized tour guides; Dive Masters and qualified shark handlers. All our crew have done SAMSA compliant Fire-Fighters and Life-Raft Courses and our skippers are licensed with ICASA (independent Commission Authority of SA), as well as SAMSA (SA Maritime and Safety Authority). A step-by-step emergency flow chart is available inside the cabin of our vessel at all times.

JOINING & FINISHING POINT

This package starts and finishes in Cape Town. It starts at the joining hotel any time on Day 1. This first day is an arrival day in Cape Town. Your accommodation will be in a lively part of the city, near to some of its attractions. After checking in, the remainder of the day is at your own leisure and you can explore this vibrant, cosmopolitan city.
