Our supplier, ISV, works in collaboration with accrediting universities in various countries in order to offer students the opportunity to earn academic credit for their participation in the Volunteer Work Project component of their trip. Depending on the specific host country and program, participants can choose between various options:
ENROLL IN A CREDIT-BEARING COURSE THROUGH AN ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY
Enroll in a credit-bearing course in Natural Resources Management or Community Development through an accredited university partnered with ISV. Each year hundreds of students internationally have received academic credit through ISV's partner universities. Please contact us for a list of these universities. All participants are responsible for determining the transferability of the credits to their home institution in advance of their registration.
DESIGN AN INDEPENDENT STUDY COURSE
Design a highly individualized course of independent study with a favorite professor at your home institution. Many former ISV participants have described this as an incredibly powerful and personally tailored learning experience.
ENROLL IN A FIELD COURSE FROM YOUR HOME INSTITUTION
Enroll in an existing field course offered by your home institution. Some campus departments and programs offer generic courses designed to partner with various field, volunteer, or service-based learning experiences. An ISV volunteer work project would be appropriately associated with many such courses.
For all other trips, check with your home institution regarding credit policies. We recommend bringing a specific trip description when inquiring with your home institution.
